What a scare!
I sure am counting my blessings right now. I am usually so good about waking up when something is not right. I don't know how many times in the past I have woke up because I smelled something burning, like electrical, would wake up Don, who would not smell a thing and have to go to bed because whatever it was couldn't be found. Tonight, I didn't do that. I woke up because I was being kicked out of bed by 4 kids and Jonathan was starting to get hungry. Jonathan and I got up and headed to the living room. I smelled something and before I had time to even think about it, we were consumed by smoke. I couldn't even see through the living room. I thought for sure that it was coming from something in there. I opened doors, windows, turned on fans and was panicking because I couldn't find the source. Finally I walked further into the kitchen and on the stove was where I found the attached pictures. Thank God, our house didn't burn down. Shadow, Don's dog, who is only 8 months old even though she looks so much older than that because she is huge, had got up on her hind legs and was trying to steal the chicken bone that was left, she managed to push down the knob and turn it to high on the stove. I just can't believe that this was the worst damage. We could have so easily been on the news this morning. And, yes, that is actually one of my dinner plates on that cookie sheet. It isn't a plastic plate that just melted away, it is a porcelain dinner plate. I am going to try to get some more sleep now. It is 6:30 and I have been up dealing with this since 5am. I need a nap! Here is a picture of Shadow, the culprit...... Our, I mean, Don's 100+ lb lab/akita mix puppy....
